Squirrels Retreat
Squirrels Retreat is our modern family owned caravan, which sits in a lovely small quiet close with the start of the woodland paths just at the end of the close. We have a large garden area designed and created to encourage wildlife, with bird feeders, nest boxes and planted up to encourage the local wildlife. We have composite decking to the front and side with part of the front decking having a covered balcony so you can still sit out with your morning brew and enjoy watching the birds on the bird feeder during any light showers. Many of the features of this holiday home including double glazing and central heating, makes it a perfect family escape all year round. Our caravan is very well equipped with lots of little extras you won't find in your standard rental van. We have a great selection of dvd's to suit all the family, board games, books a small selection of toys and even buckets & spades for the beach. You will also find iron/ironing board, hairdryer, first aid kit, and even a sewing kit, it really does give you that home from home feel.

Outside Area
I am a keen gardener and nature lover so the outside space to me is also very important, which is why when choosing our holiday home here we wanted a nice large plot we could make our own. There is a large decked area around the caravan with a choice of seating including rattan patio table and chairs, a Egg chair and a parasol this area is perfect for sitting out and watching the birds (or greedy Squirrel) on the bird feeders. I also love to sit out on the decking at night listening to the Owl or watching the bats, and on a clear night, the sky is alight with stars that seem so close you feel like you can almost touch them! There is also an enclosed garden area, with a lovely wooden swing bench. The garden has been planted up with a variety of plants to encourage Bee's and Butterflies. We have 3 bird feeding poles in different locations around the garden, and we have also put up bird nest boxes and insect houses to encourage the wildlife. We wanted the garden to be a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature. Our holiday home sits on an elevated spot surrounded by oak trees that are hundreds of years old. The parking bay is right besides the caravan, where you will find the Squirrel Feeding station!

With the caravan being in a woodland setting and designing the garden to attract the wildlife we get a great variety of birds visiting our 3 bird feeders, we also have a couple of nest boxes up that are also used by nesting birds and a Bat box up in one of the trees for the bats. We have Squirrels that visit us on a daily basis and they now even have their very own Squirrel feeding station, and on the odd occasion the rabbits stop by the garden (luckily so far they have left my plants alone)We hear the Owls most nights and in mid April to June there's a good chance you will hear the Cuckoo's, I have heard them but I've yet to see one. We also get foxes and Badgers on site but these are hard to spot due to the fact they come out at night, but we have caught them on our camera traps we have put out in the woods and we recently also got footage of a pine martin! The site is just 5 mins away from a Osprey nesting site and we do on occasion see the Osprey flying past the caravan but it always seems to be when I don't have my camera handy!
