Squirrels Retreat

The wildlife at the site and also the local area is pretty amazing! We have 3 bird feeding stations in the garden and have had a great variety of birds visit them including, siskins, nuthatches, wood peckers, gold finches, bull finches, Brambling, Pied Flycatchers and we have even had Hawfinches! as well as the usual Blue tit, Great tit, Robin, Blackbird, Thrush, Chaffinch, long tailed tits, dunnock.  We have also had blue tits, and pied flycatchers in our nest boxes. It's a nature lovers dream, you wake up to the sound of woodpeckers in the morning and fall asleep to Owls hooting at night. The bird song in the morning at Springtime is deafening and you can also hear the cuckoo's calling. We get bats flying over the caravan and around the site including the lesser horseshoe bat which is quite rare. There are foxes and Badgers on site but these are not so easy to see with them coming out during the night but we have caught them on our trail cameras we have put out in the woods and we have also caught a pine martin on one of our cameras. 

The Glaslyn Osprey visitors centre is also just 5 mins from the site where you can see the Ospreys and if your lucky you may also see the otters in the river there. 

Porthmadog Cob is a great place for wading birds and sometimes you can see the Ospreys fishing there.

If you want to travel a little further afield and visit Anglesey then Llyn Parc Mawr is one of the best places in Newborough nature reserve to see the red squirrels they have feeding stations there. You could also visit Penmon point on Anglesey which is a great place for spotting Dolphins and harbour porpoise.
